UN reaction to insulting the Quran: disrespectful and irresponsible behavior

CONDEMNATION OF THE UN ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS
The high representative of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, affirmed that he strongly condemned the “despicable act” of burning a copy of the Koran, the holy book of Islam, in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
On behalf of Moratinos, spokesman Nihal Saad said in a statement: “The High Representative stresses the importance of supporting freedom of expression as a fundamental human right, while stressing that the act of burning the Holy Quran is an expression of hate. against Muslims. Saad expressed Moratinos’ deep concern about the general increase in cases of discrimination, intolerance and violence towards members of religious and other communities in various parts of the world, including cases of Islamophobia.
