Croatia switched to the euro
As of January 1, Croatia was included in both Schengen and the euro area, while the transition from the official currency to the euro was completed today.
Retiree Zoran Juric told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the official currency is the euro, expressing his satisfaction with Croatia’s use of one of the largest currencies in the world, such as the euro, saying: “I have problems with the coins. I couldn’t really adjust to them.” He said.
Juric also stated that he found the government’s decision to exchange the kuna at post offices positive.
Ivo Vrljic, who works as a market vendor in the capital Zagreb, noted that people are still getting used to it, saying: “There are many currencies. I’m having some difficulties with this. There are still those who pay in kuna”. he said.
Student Roko Raguz stressed that she needed time to get used to the euro, saying: “As soon as the euro came, prices went up a bit. I hope this is resolved soon.” she performed her assessment.
While the official currency in Croatia is the euro, it was noted that kunas can be exchanged for euros at post offices until the end of 2023 and at the Croatian National Bank in 2024.
CROATIA BECOMES A MEMBER OF THE EU IN 2013

Croatia believes that its inclusion in Schengen will have a positive impact on the country’s economy and will increase its competitiveness thanks to the free, fast and cheap movement of goods and services. The country also predicts that tourism revenue will increase as a Schengen member.
