The 5+5 Joint Military Committee in Libya meets for the first time in 7 months

According to the statement, the articles of the ceasefire agreement signed in Geneva, Switzerland, between the Libyan parties in 2020, as well as the work of international and local observers on the agreement, were discussed during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed the issues of unifying the country’s military institutions under one roof and the expulsion of foreign soldiers and mercenaries from the country.
The 5+5 Joint Military Committee had last met on June 15, 2022 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

In the Joint Military Committee, which was launched under the auspices of the UN, there are delegations of five people each from the Libyan army affiliated with the legitimate Libyan government and the leader of the armed forces in the east of the country, Khalifa Haftar’s forces. .
As a result of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee meetings held in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 19 to 23, 2020, a permanent ceasefire agreement was signed between the Libyan government and Haftar-affiliated delegations.
