Hamas made a statement on Turkey’s claim in the Israeli press
Accusations that Turkey, which has normalized relations with Israel, increased pressure on the Palestinian organization Hamas has created controversy.
Haaretz, one of the leading Israeli newspapers, wrote that after the appointment of mutual ambassadors with Israel, Turkish intelligence increased pressure on Hamas officials and members in Turkey. In the news, it was claimed that Turkey, which did not fully respond to Israel’s demand to close the Hamas office and expel the organization’s members from the country, heavily restricted Hamas’ activities in the country.
Israel’s newly appointed ambassador to Ankara, Irit Lillian, had previously said that they were waiting for the Hamas office in Turkey to be closed. Some Israeli newspapers, on the other hand, brought up the accusation that Turkey had deported large numbers of Hamas members in recent months.
A notable statement came from Hamas regarding these accusations. One of the organization’s spokesmen, Hazim Kasim, denied the claim that Turkey restricted Hamas’ activities.
In his statement, Kasım claimed that there has been no change in Hamas’s relations with Turkey and that the organization aims to establish good relations with all Arab and Muslim countries, describing Haaretz’s claim as “fake news aimed at wearing down Hamas”.
