France’s condemnation of the raid of Congress in Brazil
In a statement from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “France is the 3 institutions of Brazilian democracy; It condemns in the strongest terms the violence against the National Congress, the Presidential Palace and the Constitutional Court.
Assessing that these attacks “mean an unacceptable challenge to the results of the democratic elections won by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who took office on January 1, October 30,” the statement called for the will of the people Brazilian to be respected.
In the statement, it was stated that France conveyed its solidarity and support to the Brazilian people and President Lula.
On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron said on his Twitter account that the will of the Brazilian people and their democratic institutions must be respected.
Macron said that Lula can count on the support of France.
WHAT HAPPENED IN BRAZIL?
In Brazil, yesterday, groups shouting slogans demanding the intervention of the army, broke through the police barrier and entered the National Congress building.
Police, who intervened with tear gas to disperse the far-right pro-Bolsonaro protesters, were unable to stop the groups from later entering the Presidential Palace and the Supreme Court building.
Supporters of former President Bolsonaro, who stormed the National Congress and the Presidential Palace, were taken out of these buildings by the security forces and controlled.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula described what was done as “vandalism and fascism” and stated that the people who should be responsible for security in Brazil were not doing their duty.
Lula had interrupted his program in the state of Sao Paulo and returned to the capital, Brasilia, when activists stormed government buildings. (AA)
