Between 2017 and the start of his 2020 presidential campaign, Biden made off-and-on use of the office, the documents for which – found by Biden’s lawyers – are still unknown. According to the CNN news channel, some documents are classified as “top secret,” meaning they contain sensitive information. “He’s very sensitive,” says US correspondent Jan Postma.
Differences
“We all know what happened to Trump and it’s still happening, it’s become a big thing and it could get Trump in trouble.” However, Postma underlines important differences between the Biden case and that of Trump: ‘Trump had three hundred documents and kept them for himself, he did not collaborate in the investigation. A dozen documents were found in Biden by his own lawyers who turned them over. They cooperate, they expressly say that they cooperate.”
Political damage
Biden is on a state visit to Mexico, has been questioned by reporters, but does not want to say anything about it. “He ignored those questions.” According to Postma, the political damage is already great. Despite the differences between the Trump case and the Biden case, Republicans insist on prosecuting Biden. Trump himself, of course, goes wild about Biden on his social media channel. According to Trump, the FBI should raid Biden, and the Chinese have already seen the documents. “Already feel which way it’s going, the damage is already there.”
When will the FBI raid Joe Biden’s many homes, maybe even the White House? Those documents have certainly not been released,” Trump said Monday via his Truth Social platform, referring to the federal police search of his Mar-a-Lago Florida estate.
Even Republicans in the House of Representatives are critical. “President Biden was very critical of President Trump for accidentally taking home confidential documents, and now it appears he has done the same,” Rep. House said.
