“Turkey confirms that we did what we were going to do, but they also say they want things we can’t or won’t provide,” Kristersson said, speaking to a defense think tank in Sweden.

Both Finland and Sweden signed a treaty with Turkey in 2022, in order to appease Ankara’s objections to the possible accession of the Scandinavian countries to NATO. In May, the countries wanted to join the treaty organization, soon after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but Turkey prevented it.
