Arşiya Tekdestan, who was tried for protests that began after a young woman died in police custody in Iran, was sentenced to death.
According to the Mizan news agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, Tekdestan, who is on trial at the Mazenderan Province Revolutionary Court, was accused of committing “serious criminal acts” during demonstrations in the Novshehr district. In the events that broke out during the demonstrations on September 21 in the district square; Many people, including security forces, were claimed to have been killed and public property destroyed and burned, with Tekdestan being claimed to have been “one of the leaders of the events”. Tekdestan, who is being tried for “committing serious crimes against the internal security of the country”, “destroying public order and security”, “destroying and burning public property and facilities”, “inciting citizens to create mistrust and committing crimes “has” created corruption in the world and was sentenced to death for “combat” crimes.
It was noted that the court’s decision is open to appeal and can be appealed.
