Israel’s decision in the West Bank

In the statement made on the Twitter account of the Israeli non-governmental organization Peace Now Movement, it was stated that the case regarding the evacuation of the illegal settlement of Homesh in the West Bank continues today.

The statement indicated that the government conveyed its decision to change its position on the evacuation of the illegal settlement to the Israeli Supreme Court, noting that no action would be taken against the illegal settlement.

CONSIDERED AS A VIOLATION OF THE LAW

In the Peace Now Movement statement, it was emphasized that the Israeli government’s plan to legalize the illegal Homesh settlement established in the Palestinian territories is a clear violation of international law and a continuation of apartheid policies applied to the Palestinian people.

In Haaretz newspaper news, it was shared that the state has so far taken the attitude that settlers should evacuate Homesh, but the new government has announced that this attitude will change.

In the news, it was indicated that the court will announce its decision after the new attitude of the government.

This change in government stance is said to be based on an agreement between the right-wing Likud Party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Religious Zionism Party leader Bezalel Smotrich, who is the Finance Minister.

According to this agreement, it is expected to modify the law to “not touch the illegal settlements built without the approval of the government.”

Jewish settlers established the Homesh settlement in the villages of “Burqa” and “Sile ez-Zahr” in the northern West Bank in 2005, but it was evacuated a year later. From time to time, settlers hold demonstrations to demand a return to the Homesh settlement. (AA)
