The Vatican has recently announced that the 95-year-old Honorary Pope Benedict XVI, who was reported to be in poor health, has passed away.

The funeral of 16, who was pronounced dead at his residence at the Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican, where he continued to live after resigning in 2013, has been announced to take place on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Before the funeral, Vatican officials shared photos of the pope’s corpse with the public and international agencies.
The body of the Honorary Pope, who died on Saturday, will be taken to St. Peter’s Basilica and will remain there for 3 days until the funeral. In the photos shared by the Vatican, the body of Pope Honorary Benedict will be kept in a small church in the Vatican, and there will be no official ceremony or prayer ceremony during this time.
Tomorrow morning, Benedict’s body will be transported to St. Peter’s Basilica and those who wish will be able to visit Benedict’s corpse for 3 days.
It has been announced that Benedict’s funeral will take place next week.

Honorary Pope Benedict XVI, born in Germany, was elected Pope on April 19, 2005 and visited Turkey on November 27 and December 1, 2006.
Pope Benedict XVI resigned in February 2013, becoming the first Pope to resign since Pope Gregory XII in 1415.
Benedict’s death marked the end of a first in Vatican history. For the first time after the resignation of Benedict XVI, the two Popes lived together in the Vatican for 9 years.
