Strep A claimed 94 lives in the UK

According to a statement from the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA), 21 people under the age of 18 died in the country due to infection with the Strep A bacterium.

The number of people who have died from the disease so far has risen to 94.

On the other hand, in the period 2017-2018, 355 people, 27 of whom were under 18 years of age, died from this bacterium.

The incidence of the disease is higher than in previous years

The UKHSA, in a December 6 statement, warned families to beware of infection, noting that the incidence of the disease treated with antibiotics is higher than in previous years.

The agency estimated that the increase was likely due to high circulation of the bacteria in the community.

The bacteria that cause redness and infection of the skin in some parts of the body can lead to serious complications and, in some cases, death.
