Great panic in Turkish restaurant in London: 200 people were rushed to hospital
Christmas dinner at a Turkish restaurant in England turned into a nightmare.
According to the news from the British newspaper Daily Mail, dozens of people who attended the Christmas party at a Turkish food restaurant in the town of Chingford, east of the London capital, suddenly fell ill. About 200 people were hospitalized with complaints of nausea and dizziness.
At first, it was thought that the crowd had been poisoned by the food, but later the truth came out. Attendees at the Christmas party reportedly suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.
OXYGEN CRISIS ALARM IN HOSPITALS
Hospitals in the region struggled to find adequate oxygen support, due to the incident that happened just on Christmas Eve and as thousands of people went on strike at health services in England. A hospital source reported that his hands were beginning to run out of oxygen.
While the Turkish restaurant did not comment on the incident, a leak at the restaurant is believed to have caused carbon monoxide poisoning. A restaurant employee said that when the Christmas dinner attendees suddenly fainted, they immediately called an ambulance and sent the guests to different hospitals.
The daughter of one of those attending the Christmas event, which is said to be a business lunch, also said on Twitter: “Many people including my mother have been affected by some form of carbon monoxide leak. My mom has symptoms like palpitations, dizziness and fainting. Very high levels of carbon monoxide were found in her blood. She could have been so much worse,” she said.
In England, there are serious disruptions to health services due to the strike of thousands of health workers and ambulance officers. Authorities are warning the public to be careful and not drink too much alcohol during Christmas celebrations.
