Covid continues to spread in China Related articles

In China, the number of coronavirus infections continues to grow rapidly now that the government has abandoned its zero-Covid policy. Hospitals in major cities are experiencing shortages of staff and beds, while patient numbers are increasing at an alarming rate. And while the crematoria work overtime, the Chinese government downplays the dead and speaks of a common flu. According to China correspondent Anouk Eigenraam, China officially regrets 11 corona deaths; This is, of course, a fictitious number.

Eigenraam has already visited a crematorium a few days ago where it was very busy. “Forty cars were waiting. Crematorium employees said there had been such a queue all week and that the crematorium did not have enough cold storage to store all the bodies.’

Chaotic states

The correspondent also saw chaotic conditions in hospitals where hundreds of patients go to emergency rooms. “It’s quite chaotic and the doctors are very, very busy. At the fever clinic, people were lying on beds in the corridor waiting for a room, the IC was full. There were people who had already been sent from other hospitals, some people had to wait five hours for an ambulance.’

11 dead

According to Eigenraam, many quarantine rooms are now being converted into temporary shelters for corona patients. The Chinese government, meanwhile, is minimizing death rates, as 11 people are said to have died since the reins were eased. “This is obviously a fictitious figure. People are only recorded as having died of corona when they died directly of respiratory problems.”
