‘Bomb Cyclone’ alarm in the US: The coldest Christmas in years

Almost all of the United States was hit by freezing winds on Christmas Eve.

In the statement from the National Weather Administration, it was reported that icy winds from the North Pole, which affected parts of the US and Canada, rapidly expanded their area. In the statement, it was noted that a major snowstorm and cold air wave, which is rare enough to be seen “once in a generation,” will affect almost every US state.

It is claimed that more than 100 million people in the US will be affected by a cold snap that has not been seen in decades.

Wind chills that will affect almost the entire US are moving into the eastern states. While the authorities pointed out that there will be serious disruptions to air transport and roads due to Christmas, several flights have also been cancelled.

IT WILL GO DOWN TO MINUS 50 DEGREES

In the statement made by meteorology, it was emphasized that the weather situation in the US showed that the coldest wave of cold air in recent years will be experienced. In many places, the temperature is expected to drop to minus 50 degrees in places.

The experts also pointed out that extreme cold will lead to frostbite, and reported that sudden colds impede blood flow and cause tissue death, so people should not stay outdoors for long.

Sudden blizzards, which meteorologists call “bomb cyclones,” which can reach hurricane force and create an explosive effect, are expected to hit many parts of the United States today.

STATE OF EMERGENCY IN FOUR STATES

In his statement yesterday, US President Joe Biden called on the public to be careful, saying: “This is a very different event, very serious, with a profitable agenda.” In some places an alarm was activated for possible flood events.

While a state of emergency has been declared in Kentucky, Georgia, Oklahoma and North Carolina, states where freezing temperatures will be most effective, this number is expected to increase in the coming days.
