EU and NATO turn off their lights in solidarity with Ukraine

In addition to the EU institutions such as the EU Commission, the European Council and the European Parliament in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, the lights also went out at the NATO headquarters.

“Russia has left 10 million Ukrainians in the cold and in the dark,” the EU Commission said in a statement. In the statement, which states that the EU provided support by sending hundreds of generators to Ukraine against power cuts, support was also expressed for the campaign launched to provide generators to Ukraine.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also stated that Russia attacked their infrastructure to keep Ukraine in the dark and claimed that they responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s call for solidarity.

In the NATO statement, it was noted that it supports the initiative launched to provide hospitals in Ukraine with generators and draw the world’s attention to this country.

In the statement, it was stated that the Ukrainian people live in very difficult conditions due to Russia’s attacks on infrastructure, and NATO allies have provided Ukraine with various aids, including materials, winter clothing, fuel and generators, necessary for the repair of the electrical network.
