Russian arms smuggler, freed in barter with US, joins Zhirinovskiy’s party

Freed in a prisoner exchange between Russia and the United States and declared to be a Russian arms smuggler, Viktor Bout joined the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR).

LDPR Chairman Leonid Slutskiy announced that Bout joined the LDPR in a written statement on social media. Stating that Bout is a “courageous person”, Slutskiy said: “Bout will take the place he deserves in our group. Welcome to our ranks!” he used the phrases.

LDPR was founded in 1992 by Vladimir Zhirinovskiy, a well-known Russian politician who died in April 2022.

Bout was arrested in Thailand in 2008 for supplying weapons to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Bout, who was extradited to the United States from Thailand, was sentenced to 25 years in prison there.

It was claimed that the film “God of War”, starring American actor Nicholas Cage, was based on Bout’s life story. (AA)
