Chinese President Xi’s reaction to Israel

In his opening remarks at the China-Arab Summit in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, Chinese President Xi said his country supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“The historic persecution of the Palestinian people and the negotiation of their legitimate rights cannot be sustained.” Xi said Palestine should be granted full membership in the United Nations (UN).

Xi noted that the Arab countries and China should strengthen cooperation and adhere to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.

Chinese President Xi said they are determined to implement joint commitments with Arab countries, such as promoting development, health and food security.

On the other hand, the China-Arab Countries Summit was chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, replacing King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

In his opening speech at the summit, Crown Prince Bin Salman noted that they will continue to support cooperation between the Arab countries and China in the fields of trade, finance and investment, as well as coordination on regional and international affairs.

Drawing attention to the problems experienced in the international arena, including food and energy security, Bin Salman said they appreciate China’s initiatives that are in line with Saudi Arabia’s priorities to support sustainable development and increase food security.

Bin Salman also stressed that efforts should be increased to end the crises in Syria and Libya and achieve stability and development in these countries. (AA)
