Iran message from Amnesty International

Amnesty: Don’t be fooled by dubious claims that the morality police have been disbanded

Amnesty International issued a statement today, describing Iran’s chief prosecutor Mohammad Jafar Montazeri’s December 3 statement on the abolition of the morality police as vague and underscoring that the international community should not be misled by dubious claims that the ” morality police” has been disbanded.

The organization said in its statement that the vague and contradictory statements by the Iranian authorities about the alleged dismantling of Iran’s so-called morality police should not mislead the international community about the ongoing violence against women and girls, which it is included in the laws on the compulsory use of the headscarf. and it is fueled by the impunity of those who vigorously apply it.

PRESIDENT: THE GOVERNMENT LISTENS TO THE VOICES OF THE PROTESTS AND THE OPPOSITION

In the protests that started after Amini’s death, 5 more people who had been arrested earlier were sentenced to death today, bringing the total number of those sentenced to death to 11. It was announced that today’s death sentences will be issued for the killing of a member of the security forces during protests in the city of Karaj last month.

Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi made a statement on November 24, saying: “The government listens to the voices of the protesters and the opposition, but protest is different from chaos and turmoil. “The rebellion is an obstacle to both dialogue and any development, and people expect a determined response,” he said.
