Protests for 16-year-old boy continue in Greece

According to reports in the Greek press, activists from the Hagia Sophia district of Thessaloniki set fire to the barricades they erected on the road. The police also intervened with the protesters with tear gas.

In Thessaloniki, there were tense moments between the police and the protesters, including the father of the seriously injured boy, in front of the court building where the police, who seriously injured the 16-year-old boy, were waiting to give their statement.

Protests were also held in Athens for the seriously injured youth. On the other hand, the 32-year-old police officer, who seriously injured the young man, asked for additional time until Friday to testify.

The driver, who fled early yesterday morning in Thessaloniki, Greece, by failing to follow the “stop” warning, was seriously injured when police opened fire. The 16-year-old, who sustained a head injury, was treated in the intensive care unit.

In the statement made by the Greek Police Department, it was indicated that the police followed the young man after a complaint from the gas station employee, who left without paying for the gasoline he bought.

The statement indicated that the young man was driving dangerously to avoid police pursuit and ignored the warnings, and it is clear that the police tried to stop the driver with two shots. (AA)
