Norway: Turkey has the right to fight terrorism
Speaking at the joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Store said: “When there is a threat, Turkey has the right to fight terrorism.” he said he.
Asked by a reporter about Turkey’s deportation operations, Store said they respect the fact that, in principle, Turkey may also face security problems, but they should ask all parties to avoid military operations that create tensions.
Underlining that his country supports the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO, Store said that with the membership of the two countries, Europe can have collective security.
Store stated that he expects all NATO members to approve the membership of these two countries. The Norwegian Prime Minister also used the following statements regarding the protection of the energy structure under the sea:
“This is about the safety of energy facilities. I don’t want to draw a sharp dividing line between above and below the water here. These are gas pipelines, telecommunications infrastructure, fiber optic infrastructure and others. We need a coordinated joint effort to secure this infrastructure.”
REQUEST TO ESTABLISH A “COORDINATION OFFICE”
German Chancellor Scholz stated that they want submarine energy infrastructure to be protected jointly with Norway under the NATO umbrella, and demand the establishment of a “coordination office” within NATO for the protection of submarine infrastructure.
“Pipes, phone wires and internet connections are vital to our states and need to be protected in a very specific way. At least the attacks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines showed how big the risk is.” he said she. (AA)
