Hulusi Akar met with his American counterpart Austin
According to the statement issued by the ministry, bilateral and regional defense and security issues were discussed during the meeting between Akar and Austin.
During the meeting, Minister Akar affirmed that Turkey and the United States are two important allies and stated that “anti-terrorist operations are carried out within the scope of our self-defense rights derived from Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations to guarantee the security of our nation and our borders.
Emphasizing that cooperation and solidarity in the fight against terrorism will contribute to regional and world peace and security, Akar stressed that they are ready to cooperate against ISIS and all other terrorist organizations, noting that the only objective in operations they are the terrorists, and that it is not about harming coalition forces or civilians.
