A recording of the conversation longer than seven minutes is on line set by Russian comedians Vovan and Lexus. In it, the Polish president can be heard speaking in English to the caller, who is trying to imitate a French accent. “Emmanuel, trust me, I’m very attentive,” Duda tells the caller. “I don’t want a war with Russia and believe me, I’m being very careful, very careful.”
It’s not the first time
This is the second time the pranksters have broken into Duda’s office. The Polish government will investigate how this could have happened. In 2020 they posed as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Vovan and Lexus are notorious in Russia for bombarding celebrities and politicians with fake phone calls. Macron, British singer Elton John and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, among others, have been duped in the past.
