Don’t force cyclists to use the entire lane, City of Culver
letters to the editor

About the publisher: It’s funny how people who are in cars and slowed down by car congestion always blame the bikes and bike lanes for their problems. (“Cars don’t have to rule Culver City, or the future of LA Transportation,” Opinion, Apr. 19)
If my city council votes to end the Move Culver City pilot project, which created protected bike and bus lanes along a 1.5-mile road, you can count on me taking the entire lane when I ride my bike around town .
I encourage everyone to do the same.

About the publisher: At least the editorial writer has the confidence to call herself smug.
There is both ageism and competence in the idea that anyone can just get on a bike or use public transportation. Due to health reasons, my cycling days are over and I cannot transport groceries by bus. I walk where I can, but if I can’t, I have to drive.
She is right that not all of us have the privilege of choosing our mode of transportation, but that applies not only to bus drivers, but also to drivers.
