I was a member of Mark Ridley-Thomas. I admire him, but his behavior was wrong
letters to the editor

About the editor: Erin Aubrey Kaplan is in the spotlight because of suspended LA City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas. Precisely because Ridley-Thomas has served an underfunded and underappreciated part of the city and is an accomplished politician, we should be outraged by the behavior that led to his conviction for corruption.
It does not adhere to any higher standard, just the letter of the law.
I live in the Ridley-Thomas neighborhood and saw him pushing a stroller around the neighborhood. I was so proud that I crossed my path with him.
Well, I’m not sure what I’d say to him because while I understand he’s done some good things for Los Angeles,
had
also embarrassed himself and disappointed his constituents.

About the editor: Ridley-Thomas’ achievements are legion, overshadowing the charges he has been found guilty of. Still, the remarkable list of his post-ruling attorneys can’t help but think of former President Trump and his trailblazers and supporters.
Justice must be served to both men, otherwise our law and order system means nothing. As an old friend of Ridley-Thomas, LA mayor Karen Bass, in particular, has a hard time here.
