And a new investigation into the opaque practices of macronia opens! But this time, it directly implicates Emmanuel Macron, focusing on the financing of his 2017 presidential campaign. This new investigation opened in November aims, according to Le Parisien, to clarify the nature of the close links which unite the Presidency of the Republic and the American consultancy firm McKinsey.
It follows the investigations carried out during a first open procedure in the spring by “aggravated tax evasion money laundering” aimed specifically at McKinsey. On this occasion, the Paris headquarters had been searched on May 24. It was as a result of the information gathered on this occasion that the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) decided to extend the investigations to those responsible for “favoritism” in the awarding of public contracts and “Illegal election campaign financing”.
Three appointed judges
For this purpose, three investigating judges have been appointed, among them the famous judge Serge Tournaire, dean of the financial center of the Paris court. nicknamed “The Incorruptible”has investigated the most emblematic politico-financial files of the last decade, including the Fillon affair, the Libyan financing of the Nicolas Sarkozy campaign and the Bygmalion affair.
In the McKinsey affair, which is now recovering, it was the report of the Senate investigative committee on the growing influence of private consultancies on public policy, released on March 17, 2022, that had set fire to the powders. The senators had highlighted the worrying development the number of contracts concluded between the State and these consultants they had “more than double” between 2018 and 2021 reaching one record amount billion euros last year!
At the same time, we learned that McKinsey had only paid without corporate tax in France between 2011 and 2020, although its French turnover was estimated at €329 million in 2020.
