“Zero deaths at work”: Paris, a pioneering city by Pierre Jequier-Zalc

On March 18, Moussa Gassama cleaned the windows of the social action center in the City of Paris. He falls to his death. Two months later, it was Mr. Konaté who died at the bottom of a ditch at a gas pipe renovation site in Odéon. Samir Bey, died at the end of June while repairing a car on the A4 highway near the capital.

These names, these stories should not particularly speak to you. And for good reason, they have been little covered, or in the news, by the local media. However, the details (which are not details) of these industrial accidents show a more structural nature of the phenomenon. The degraded and precarious working conditions that go against the employee safety.

Moussa Gassama worked in a subcontracting company under the orders of a company mandated by the social action center. Mr. Konaté was an undocumented worker, hired by a temporary agency as a temporary employee at a site subcontracted by GRDF to a private company.
