Historic championship in Japan!

Vissel Kobe declared the J1 League championship!

Vissel Kobe, leader of the J1 Football League in Japan, faced Nagoya Grampus, the fifth-ranked team in the league standings, on their home field. Kobe won this important match 2-1 and won his first ever championship in the J1 League.

In this match, which took place at the Misaki Park stadium in Kobe, Vissel Kobe took a 2-0 lead with goals from midfielder Ide Haruya in the 12th minute and experienced striker Muto Yoshinori in the 14th minute.

The rival team, Nagoya Grampus, was excited to reduce the difference to 1 with the goal of Danish striker Kasper Junker in the 30th minute: 2-1.

As no further goals were scored until the end of the match, Vissel Kobe won 2-1.

With this victory, Vissel Kobe increased its points to 68 and declared its championship with one week left in the league.

Under the guidance of the team’s coach, 46-year-old Takayuki Yoshida, the team achieved 20 wins, 8 draws and 5 losses in 33 matches this season.

On the other hand, Yokohama F. Marinos, second in the league, drew 0-0 with Niigata yesterday at home and increased their points to 64.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima, led by Michael Skibbe, former Galatasaray coach, occupies third place in the J1 League with 55 points. (AA)
