Pepe made history in the Champions League at the age of 40
The experienced Portuguese defender Pepe broke an important record in the history of the UEFA Champions League.
Pepe, 40, who also played for Beşiktaş, became the oldest player to score a goal in the Champions League when he scored in Porto’s 2-0 home win over Antwerp.
In the match of the 4th day of Group H, Pepe 90+1. The goal he scored in the minute made history by making him the first footballer to achieve this feat at the age of 40 years and 254 days.
Previously, this record belonged to the Italian striker Francesco Totti. Totti held the title of oldest scorer in this area with the goal he scored at the age of 38 years and 59 days.
