UEFA penalizes the football federations of Serbia and Montenegro

The UEFA Disciplinary Committee imposed criminal sanctions on the Serbian Football Federation for the events that occurred in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Montenegro on October 17.

Due to racist chants in the stadium and indiscipline on the field in the aforementioned match, Serbia was sanctioned with the possibility of playing the next match against Bulgaria without spectators and a fine of 89,250 euros.

As a result of this situation, Serbia will play its qualifying match against Bulgaria, which will be played at home on November 19, with empty stands. UEFA took a tough stance to prevent these negative situations and emphasized that such behavior goes against the spirit of football and will definitely not be tolerated.

PUNISHMENT TO MONTENEGRO

On the other hand, it was reported that Montenegrin fans faced similar accusations in the same competition and therefore sanctions were imposed on the Montenegrin Football Federation.

The Montenegrin Football Federation was sanctioned by UEFA with not selling tickets for away matches and with a fine of 20,000 euros. (AA)
