Ajax lost 4-3 to Utrecht! Fallen to the relegation zone
Ajax, which experienced one of the worst seasons in its history in the Dutch Eredivisie, fell to the relegation line after losing 4-3 to Utrecht, which was last in the league.
Utrecht, which hosted Ajax in the ninth week of the league, entered the locker room with a 1-0 lead with Ryan Flamingo’s goal in the 44th minute. The home team started the second half with a goal and made it 2-0 with Mike van der Hoorn in the 48th minute. However, Ajax began the comeback, bringing the score to 2-2 with goals from Kristian Hllynsson in the 52nd and 55th minutes.
Ajax gained morale by taking a 3-2 lead with a penalty goal from Steven Bergwijn in the 65th minute of the match. Utrecht, who scored two more goals with Jens Toornstra in the 71st minute and Oscar Fraulo in the 90th minute of the match, which was a mutual goal duel, gave Ajax a big surprise and left the field with a 4-3 victory.
With this result, Utrecht, who achieved their second victory in the league, rose to 16th place with 6 points, while Ajax, with 5 points after 7 games, fell to 17th place. Ajax, who achieved their only league victory this season in the match against Heracles on August 12, will host leader PSV in its next league match.
On the other hand, the match was stopped twice by the referee due to plastic cups thrown from the stands. Referee Dennis Higler, who asked the players to go to the locker room during the first stoppage, continued the match after a brief wait in the second incident.
