Max Verstappen is also at the top in Qatar

Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver of the Red Bull team, who became Formula 1 world champion for the third consecutive time, also won the Qatar F1 Grand Prix.

In the Qatar Grand Prix, the 18th stage of the Formula 1 World Championship season, Verstappen finished first in the 57-lap race held on the 5,419-kilometer track that bears the same name in the city of Lusail. Australian McLaren driver Oscar Piastri came second and his teammate, British driver Lando Norris, came third.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz could not compete in the Qatar GP due to a problem with the fuel system of his car. Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had to say goodbye to the race early after their cars collided in the first corner of the first lap of the race.

HAMILTON APOLOGIZED

Regarding the accident, Hamilton said in his post-race statement: “I watched the replay and it was 100 percent my fault and I take full responsibility. “I apologize to my team and to George,” he said.

With the points obtained in the sprint race held yesterday in Qatar, Verstappen reached the points difference that his rivals could not close before 6 Grand Prix, including today’s Qatar race, and declared his championship.

In the organization, Red Bull champion driver Max Verstappen has 14 wins, his teammate Sergio Pérez has 2 wins and Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has 1 win.

The sixth stage of the season, the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, was canceled due to adverse weather conditions.

The nineteenth race of the championship, the United States Grand Prix, will be held on October 22.
