Disrespect towards Bradley Lowery: Sheffield fans arrested
Two Sheffield Wednesday fans caused outrage at the weekend. Heartless fans mocked Bradley Lowery (6) during the 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.
The young Sunderland fan lost his battle with cancer in 2017. In the months before his death, the young fan had become a national celebrity.
Now two Sheffield fans have mocked Lowery in an emphatic response to their club’s collapse. In the photographs spread on social networks they can be seen laughing while holding the mobile phone with Lowery’s photo towards the stands where the Sunderland fans are.
Footballer Jermain Defoe became friends with Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery after learning of his battle with cancer.
The Bradley Lowery Foundation, founded by Bradley’s mother, Gemma, wrote the following in a message posted on Facebook:
“It is very sad for me to see this. “Aside from respecting a family who lost their baby to cancer, what happened to the saying ‘cancer has no color’?”
Meanwhile, one of the two Sheffield fans, Dale Houghton, 31, was arrested, according to The Sun. South Yorkshire Police also called for Houghton to be banned from playing football.
A second person (27), whose name was not revealed to the public, was also released on bail after being arrested.
