Everton was sold to an American company
Farhad Moshiri, owner of Everton, one of the English Premier League teams, sold his 94 percent stake in the club to the American investment fund 777 Partners.
In the statement published on the club’s website it is stated that the negotiations between Moshiri, a British businessman of Iranian origin, and 777 Partners concluded positively.
The share sale transactions are expected to be concluded by the end of the year, following approval from the English Premier League and the English Football Association.
Once the sale is completed, half of the 20 English Premier League teams will be owned by companies based in the United States. 777 Partners will own its eighth club after Genoa, Hertha Berlin, Sevilla, Vasco de Gama, Standard Liege, Red Star and Melbourne Victory.
Moshiri became one of Everton’s shareholders in 2016 and became an owner of the club in 2018, owning 94 percent of it.
Everton, who did not start the league well, are in 18th place with 1 point after 4 weeks. (AA)
