The NBA restricts the rest of star players
The board of directors of the American Basketball League (NBA) made an important decision regarding the rest of star players for the 2023-24 season.
According to the decision, a team can only rest a star player in one game during the regular season, barring injury. This decision will require the presence of star players on the field, especially in matches broadcast live from America.
NBA President Adam Silver said: “This league has a principle. “If you’re a healthy player, you’re expected to play.” he said.
According to the decision, the star player criteria is determined as “having been selected to the All-Star or All-NBA team in the previous three seasons.” That is, the players selected by these teams in the last three seasons will enter the star player category.
Teams that do not comply with this rule will be subject to high fines. For the first violation, $100,000 must be paid, and for the second violation, $200,000 must be paid. For third and subsequent violations, a fine of one million dollars must be paid for each violation.
With this decision, the NBA management has restricted the method of resting star players, which is usually used by team head coaches due to reasons such as the heavy traffic of games in the regular season and the determination of rankings towards the end of the league. (AA)
