Antonio Watson wins his first world title

The sixth day of the XIX World Athletics Championships held in Hungary ends.

On the sixth day of organization held in Budapest, the women’s 200m semifinals, the hammer throw, the 100m and 400m hurdles finals, the men’s 5,000m eliminations, the 200m and 800m semifinals, and the long jump and 400 meter finals were held.

In the men’s 400 meters, Jamaican Antonio Watson was proclaimed champion with a time of 44.22 and took the first world championship medal. In the same discipline, the British Matthew Hudson-Smith was second with 44.31 and the American Quincy Hall was third with 44.37.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Danielle Williams won the gold medal with her best time this season at 12.43. Williams won her second world title after 8 years in Budapest. Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was second with 12.44 and American Kendra Harrison was third with 12.46.

Femke Bol of the Netherlands won her first world championship gold medal in 51.70 in the women’s 400m hurdles.

Camryn Rogers of Canada, who placed second at the last world championships in the women’s hammer throw, won the gold medal in a time of 77.22, while Janee Kassanavoid of the USA won silver in 76.36 and DeAnna Price from another USA won the bronze medal in 75.41.

Miltiadis Tentoglou, the last Olympic and European champion in the men’s long jump, won the gold medal with his best jump this season with a time of 8.52. Tentoglou won his first world title in Budapest. Jamaican Wayne Pinnock was second in 8.50 and his compatriot Tajay Gayle was third in 8.27.

USA LEADS IN MEDAL RANKING

At the end of the sixth day of organization, the US ranks first with a total of 19 medals, 7 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze. Spain is second with 4 gold medals, and Jamaica is third with 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze for a total of 8 medals. (AA)
