Wissam Ben Yedder and his brother face rape charges

French Wissam Ben Yedder, Monaco captain and former Sevilla player, was accused of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault by a court in the city of Nice.

Ben Yedder, 32, was arrested and the court ordered his release on bail of 900,000 euros, local newspaper Nice Matin reported, citing sources in the Nice prosecutor’s office.

Ben Yedder, who played for Sevilla between 2016 and 2019, and his 25-year-old younger brother, prosecuted for the same charge, were accused by two women, aged 19 and 20, of being forced to perform certain sexual acts. in Beausoleil, a small French town near Monaco, on the night of July 10.

The French striker, one of the top scorers in Ligue 1 2022-23 with 19 goals he scored last season, also wore the shirt of his country’s national team on 19 occasions.

When the allegations surfaced in mid-July, Monaco issued a statement saying it was aware of the news about the player and the club could not comment because the case was “subject to legal process”.
