Servet Yanık: There will be no other candidates for EURO 2032 apart from the association of Turkey and Italy.

During his visit to Anadolu Agency, UEFA Executive Committee member Servet Yardimci assessed Turkey’s and Italy’s joint bid to host EURO 2032.

Noting that the joint bid application to host many major FIFA and UEFA organizations has become a trend in recent years, he said:

“New Zealand and Australia are hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The UK has a bid for EURO 2028, with England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland applying to host. The 2026 World Cup will take place in the US, Mexico and Canada, although the distance between the countries is very long. Portugal, Spain and Morocco are preparing for the joint bid for the 2030 World Cup. There is such a trend. The joint bid by Türkiye and Italy is also a very positive step. Turkey and Italy are important soccer countries, both countries have a great historical and cultural heritage. But of course, I can say that we are very good in terms of infrastructure and facilities. Our organizational skills, our facilities are tremendous, we definitely deserve a great tournament. It is a very correct idea for Türkiye and Italy to host EURO 2032 together. In this process, I believe that our relations and cooperation with Italy will be further strengthened, both in football and in politics and in many different fields.”

“THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE THE BEST EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP”

“The deadline for submitting bids to host EURO 2032 ended at the end of last year. For this reason, there will be no other candidates for EURO 2032 besides the association of Turkey and Italy.” In his statement, Servet Yanık used the following statements:

“We were going to compete with Italy for EURO 2032, but the conflict disappeared with the decision of the joint candidacy. This is a very positive development for both countries. Turkey and Italy will determine 5 cities for EURO 2032. The championship will take place in 10 cities in total. Türkiye and Italy are the two most beautiful countries in the Mediterranean dish. It is very valuable to have that cooperation. The best solution will emerge for European football. The tournament organized by Türkiye and Italy will be the most beautiful European Championship. I think it will be a great organization.”

“THE FINAL DECISION IS AT THE OCTOBER MEETING…”

Speaking about UEFA’s announcement process of the countries that will host EURO 2028 and EURO 2032, Yavaş said:

“It is very important that the two countries complete the bid files by October by reviewing the bid files that will meet UEFA’s rules, criteria and expectations. Because these files are closely scrutinized, managed, turned into extensive reports and presented to the UEFA board of directors. The final decision is then made by a vote of the board of directors. From now on, I hope nothing goes wrong. The final decision will be announced at the UEFA meeting in October. You do not need to identify the host cities until the October meeting. In three years, where the opening, closing, group and final matches will be played, this will become clear”.

Recalling that Turkey has hosted many important organizations and has experience, Yardimci said: “We hosted two Champions League finals, the UEFA European Cup final, the UEFA Super Cup final, the FIFA U-20 Soccer World Championship. Türkiye’s UEFA lobby is pretty good. In the last two years we have held the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League draws in Istanbul. Istanbul is the heart of world football. It is very important for UEFA. Our other cities are also very important, with EURO 2032 we will have the opportunity to promote our other cities with their culture, history and gastronomy.
