Mourinho escapes for Dybala

Dybala’s statement from Mourinho: “I don’t know”

Roma manager Jose Mourinho declined to make clear statements about the future of Argentine player Paulo Dybala, whose move to Chelsea was on the agenda this summer.

News from Italy during the week revealed that Chelsea plan to sign Dybala to strengthen the attacking options of the new pre-season squad. Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a big fan of Dybala. There is also a clause in the 29-year-old’s contract that allows clubs outside of Serie A to sign him for just €12m (£10m).

Dybala played a key role in Mourinho’s team last season, where Roma finished sixth in Serie A and lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final.

MOURINHO SAID ‘I DON’T KNOW’

However, Mourinho claimed that he was unaware of the contract clause that could lead him to lose Dybala before the new season starts.

When asked about the substance of Dybala’s contract after interest from Chelsea, Mourinho said: “I don’t know anything about his contract. But of course I talk to Paulo like all my other players.” He gave the answer.

Mourinho was also asked about his reaction to being suspended from the manager’s chair for 10 days at the start of the new Serie A season, after describing Daniele Chiffi as “the worst referee I have ever seen” in May.

The Portuguese coach said: “Nothing surprises me. In the heat of August, instead of sitting in the cabin, I will be in a nice place with air conditioning. he used the phrases.
