Swiss footballers on clay win gold at European Games

The Swiss beach soccer team won the seventh gold medal for the Swiss Olympic delegation at the European Games in Poland. He wins the final against Italy 5-2 despite losing early.

The team of national coach Angelo Shirinci in Tarnow failed to reach the final. In a few seconds they were losing 1-0. But the turn came in the first third thanks to goals from Eliott Moonode (9th) and Dejan Stankovic (11th).

Tobias Steinemann (25th) and again Munud (27th) made a preliminary decision at the beginning of the last period. At 5-1, Steinemann also scored the second goal of the evening.

The Swiss beach soccer team won a medal in Minsk four years ago. Then Shirintsi’s team avoided bitter deja vu by winning the game for third place against Ukraine with a score of 5:4. In 2015, in Baku, the Swiss lost in the small final.

On Friday in Tarnow, Switzerland beat Portugal 5-4 in the semi-finals after a penalty shoot-out. Then the Portuguese also lost the match for bronze to Spain (5:6 after a penalty).
