Despite losing to France, the Swiss advanced to the quarter-finals

In a tough group with Italy, Norway and France, Switzerland reached the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-offs thanks to a 1-0 victory for Norway.

With Norway beating Italy 1-0, the Swiss had enough to qualify for the quarter-finals despite a 1-4 loss to France. This is due to the fact that in case of equality of points, goals scored in direct meetings are taken into account. Spain will face Spain in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

The referee was unlucky in the match with Italy

In fact, Switzerland could have qualified against Italy. After a 3-0 loss, the race for the catch-ups began at half-time. Literally in 15 minutes the score was already 2:3. The Swiss comeback was then stopped by two wrong decisions by the referee, who missed the spot twice, although the Italians committed a clear foul in the penalty area.
