Gündoğan, who will turn 33 on October 24, began his career at Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen, where he was born.
After completing his youth at Bochum, another club in the region, Gündoğan had his first Bundesliga experience in Nuremberg. However, he did make a name for himself at Schalke 04’s biggest local rival, Borussia Dortmund. He scored a penalty goal in the 2013 Champions League final, but it wasn’t enough to win the trophy. With Jürgen Klopp, he won the Bundesliga in the 2011-12 season.
İLKAY GÜNDOĞAN MUG COLLECTION
In his seven years at Manchester City, he has amassed an enormous collection of medals.
Having won the Premier League five times, Gündoğan was part of the City team that lifted their first Champions League trophy this year. He scored 60 goals in his seven seasons in England. Only two Premier League midfielders have scored more than him in the same period.
And now, he has been loaned to Barcelona as an attacking midfielder who perfectly reads the game and knows how to send the ball into the net.
Ilkay Gundogan is cited as one of the best midfielders of the last decade.
