Third place in the UEFA Nations League Italy: 3-2 win over the Netherlands

Facing the Netherlands in the match for third place in the UEFA Nations League, Italy finished the tournament in third place with a 3–2 victory.

Losing to Croatia in the semi-finals, the Netherlands and Italy lost to Spain and shared their trump card in the match for third place. Taking a 2-0 lead through Davide Frattesi’s 20th-minute goal, Italy ended the first half with this score.

The move by Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, who started the second half with substitutions, paid off with a goal scored in the 68th minute by Steven Bergwijn, who came on later in the game. However, in the 72nd minute, Federico Chiesa made it 3-1 and breathed a sigh of relief for Italy. Still, the Netherlands, who did not abandon the game, scored with Wout Weghorst in the 84th minute, but it was disallowed by a VAR decision.

Georginio Wijnaldum made the score 3-2 in the 89th minute of the fight. 9 minutes of extra time was added at the end of the match, but when there were no more goals in the remaining minutes, Italy won the match with a score of 3–2 and finished the Nations League in third place.
