Guardiola’s assistant Maresca takes over at Leicester City

Italian Enzo Maresca, assistant to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, will coach Leicester City, one of the English Championship teams.

In a club statement, it was reported that the Italian Maresca, 43, will be the team’s coach for three seasons.

Leicester City also stated that the contracts of manager Dean Smith and his assistants Craig Shakespeare and John Terry, whose contracts expire on June 30, will not be renewed.

Having completed the season with 3 trophies (Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League), Maresca will be City’s assistant coach, working to promote Leicester City, who fell out of the Championship this season, to the Premier League again.

Maresca, who previously managed Parma in 2021; Ascoli also took on various roles on the technical teams at Sevilla and West Ham United. (AA)
