FC St. Margrethen hires new sports director and vice president

Following the unexpected resignations of Vice President Majlinda Soleimani and Sports Director Dash Bektashi at the end of May, the regional football club’s starting position seemed hopeless. But this is far from the case: in early June, President Freddy Britt announced two new additions to the board of directors.

According to sportjack.ch, the new vice-president is Romeo Fakchin and lives in Marbach. At the same time, the position of sports director is occupied by Ilker Pala from Balgach. They were elected by the board, but also have to be approved at the annual general meeting of shareholders, which is scheduled for 25 August.

New six-member board

The two newcomers will replace Majlinda Soleimani (former vice president) and Dash Bektashi (former athletic director). Soleimani did not give reasons for her departure, ostensibly to avoid speculation. In Bektashi’s case, disagreements with President Freddy Britt may have been a decisive factor in his resignation.

Together with Britt, only three officials remained on the board of directors: Asli Isik as junior manager, Fabrice Triebelhorn as gardener and material manager, and Claudia Rodriguez, who, together with Britt, manages the club’s financial affairs. Together with Fakkin and Pala, they now form the six-member board of St. Margrethen Football Club.

“The club is close to his heart”

Compared to the online portal sportjack.ch, Britt reacts to the new appointment to the board: “Romeo Facchin contacted me, I didn’t have to persuade him too much, the club is important to him. After a long conversation, I managed to convince Ilker Pal to take the position of sports director. It’s a good basis to work together with motivation for the club.”
