Manchester City’s 2.3 billion euro spending and historic Champions League victory

Manchester City, which moved to the Arab capital in 2008, has received a return on its huge spending. Abu Dhabi Group spent €2.3bn on testimonials alone in 15 seasons. City became the largest in Europe for the first time in its 143-year history.

The fate of Manchester City, an ordinary Premier League team in the shadow of Manchester United, changed when the club was bought by the Abu Dhabi Group of the United Arab Emirates in 2008. With the record money spent on the transfer, famous players and managers , the long-awaited successes began to come gradually.

The city of Manchester also began to paint itself from ‘Red’ to ‘Blue’, the fashion now was City, not United.

LOSE THE FINAL IN 2021

The money that Maviler paid only for the testimonial in 15 years was 2.3 billion euros. Although the Premier League was embargoed with the arrival of Pep Guardiola, the victory in the Champions League, the only but the biggest missing piece in the museum, did not arrive. City, who lost to Chelsea in the 2021 final, broke the devil’s leg in Istanbul and embraced the success they had hoped for in their 143-year history.

Now they were the biggest in Europe…

GUARDIOLA’S HISTORICAL TRILOGY
