Manuel Ugarte stealing from PSG to giants of the Premier League
Paris Saint-Germain accelerates the transfer of Sporting Lisbon star Manuel Ugarte, and the French champions will use the player’s release clause.
According to the Lisbon newspaper Correio da Manha; PSG agreed to pay a release clause of £52m to sign Ugarte. Ugarte, who also plays for the Uruguay national team, is expected to sign a five-year deal with PSG.
Ugarte performed impressively in his second season at Sporting Lisbon, making 47 appearances as a midfielder in all events. Ugarte transferred from Portuguese outfit Famalicao to Sporting for around £5m in the summer of 2021.
Since then, he has played 85 games for the club and eight games for the Uruguayan national team.
GIANTS OF THE PREMIER LEAGUE RATED
Supposedly, PSG’s offer was presented to Ugarte’s coach, Jorge Mendes. Mendes had been in talks with many Premier League clubs for Ugarte. While Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea have followed Ugarte this season, they are currently working on other priorities.
Eventually, Aston Villa joined the clubs showing interest in the midfielder, but PSG are expected to win the autograph race.
