Klopp banned!

Jürgen Klopp banned from the English Football Association

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was suspended for one game for his criticism of referee Paul Tierney and was suspended for one additional game until the end of the next season. Klopp will lead his team in Liverpool’s final game of the season.

An FA spokesperson announced that Klopp was fined £75,000 and banned for two games.

However, the federation official said: “The ban on the first match on the coach’s touchline came into effect immediately. He added that the second ban will be in place as long as he is suspended until the end of the 2023/24 season and has not committed any further breaches of FA Rule E3 during this time.

Klopp admitted that his comments were “inappropriate” and “imply bias, question the integrity of the referee, are personal, offensive and bring the game into disrepute.” Unsurprisingly, Klopp was expected to receive a two-game ban and be unable to serve for the rest of the season.

However, Klopp will be in the stands for Saturday’s game against Aston Villa and will again be sidelined for the final game of the season, against Southampton on May 28.

Klopp claimed that after the dramatic 4-3 win against Tottenham, referee Tierney had an agenda against them and made biased decisions.

The Liverpool manager said Jota came close to arguing with the fourth official after the last-second goal and criticized Tierney in the post-match press conference.
