Trans athlete was ‘banned’: ‘They excluded me’

Trans athlete Halba Diouf reacts to ‘ban’ decision: I was excluded

Trans athlete Halba Diouf claimed she was marginalized and harassed in the field of sport after World Athletics banned trans women from participating in international competition. This decision ended her dream of running in the Paris Olympics.

Speaking about the World Athletics decision, Diouf said: “I don’t understand this decision because trans women are always allowed to compete if they are below a certain testosterone level.”

The president of the international organization, Sebastian Coe, announced in March that trans athletes who have passed male puberty will not be able to participate in competitions that score world rankings.

DIOUF: I FEEL OUT

Diouf said: “I think the only protection for trans women is the right to live as they want, and this right is denied to us. They are harassing us. I feel excluded because we are excluded from the competitions”. she says she.

Born in Senegal and arrived in France at the age of four, Diouf moved to Aix-en-Provence as an adult and began hormone therapy to change his gender. The French authorities officially recognized the gender transition in 2021.

Diouf’s endocrinologist, Alain Berliner, notes that Diouf is “physiologically, hormonally and legally a woman” and that her testosterone levels are now lower than the average levels of women who were born female.
