David De Gea’s mistake drives Manchester United fans crazy
Manchester United fans reacted harshly to goalkeeper David de Gea’s unbelievable mistake that led to defeat against West Ham.
In recent weeks and months, De Gea has found himself in the spotlight, with debates over whether the club should offer him a new contract. The Spanish goalkeeper delivered a performance that raised concerns about his tenure as the club’s number one goalkeeper, allowing West Ham’s Said Benrahma to score a tribute goal.
Benrahma, who was advancing with the ball in the 27th minute of the game, shot from a spot that saw the goal from the opposite side, although there were some Manchester United players around. With the long distance and the ball coming off the ground without too much violence, De Gea thought he could easily catch the ball.

“TERRIBLE MISTAKE”
However, the Spanish goalkeeper saw the ball he wanted to take from a corner in his goal and suffered a great destruction. Struggling to stay in relegation, West Ham won 1-0 on this goal and scored a critical win. In the last weeks of the season, Liverpool is close to the top, while Manchester United’s first 4 goals are in jeopardy.
De Gea’s fault is that Peter Crouch said: “He had a very bad match. It’s hard to say, but it’s wrong. If you look at De Gea’s position, he can’t use his front foot. This is a terrible mistake.”
“YOU CAN’T RECOGNIZE THIS MISTAKE”
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand said: “You can’t justify this mistake. A big mistake will take full responsibility. His left foot slips a bit, but that’s no excuse. He made full contact with the ball, hit it with all of his hand, without touching it with the tips of his fingers. He completely missed and made a big mistake,” he said.
Then, the coach Erik ten Hag stated that he wanted De Gea to sign the new contract.

“HE FINDS HIS CLUB”
United fans reacted angrily on social media, calling for action to replace Ten Hag’s starting XI De Gea.
“A fan wrote on social media: ‘Don’t give De Gea any contract to sign, call another club!’
Another fan expressed similar sentiments, writing: “If De Gea’s contract is extended and a new goalkeeper is not brought in, Ten Hag will be fully responsible if things go wrong next season. If he gets fired, it will be entirely his fault.”
This mistake means De Gea has scored four straight goals in all competitions this season, and there are still serious questions about his suitability as the club’s first choice.
