‘Bull’ crisis before rugby match
French team Catalans Dragons hosted English team St Helens at the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan on Friday night.
In the pre-match round of pride, an idea coined by Bernard Guasch, owner of a local meat processing company and owner of the Catalan team, three large bulls were paraded across the field to celebrate the quality of meat in the region.
However, in the shocking images shared on social networks, it was seen that one of the bulls got out of control and began to run through the field after the unfortunate man was run over.
As many players, clad in red training jerseys, warmed up, they quickly dropped balls and tried to run off the field.
Eventually the animal walked to the edge of the field and when someone slowed down enough to regain control, the bull was able to be contained while a singer sang over the loudspeaker.
Apart from a few scratches or a high heart rate, there was no damage and the match finally started as planned.
